My Bedside Table Necessities!

Hello gorgeous!

I am always intrigued by what people have on their bedside tables. The little bits and bobs they choose to keep there, if it's more of a place for necessities or another decor staple in the room. Whether they prefer to cover it up with a stack of books, loads of beauty products, a bunch of miscellaneous bits that found their way there or even wires and gadgets, I just enjoy seeing it all!

On my bedside table, you can sometimes find the cheeky sweet wrappers that I could not manage to resist the night before, you might find a book or two some days, or even 3 half empty water bottles. You may only see my phone and lamp and some days, it might even look like a proper decor staple in my room which is very rare, but you get the idea.

Recently, I've found that I really like leaving my must-haves on it. Things I should remember doing like taking out my contact lenses, staying hydrated, cleansing my face and moisturising. Things I enjoy before bed like reading or writing down little notes. And finally, the things I need the next morning like my fuzzy socks to keep warm and my fully charged phone. Take a look!

What are your bedside table necessities? Let me know down below!

See you soon,

Recipe: The Perfect Scones for Afternoon Tea!

Hello gorgeous!

If there's anything I love doing and could never get enough of, it's afternoon tea. I have a little shelf in our kitchen cupboard filled with different kinds of tea, from peppermint, pomegranate, raspberry and strawberry to Earl Grey and your ordinary English tea. Call me grandma, but I love it.

And what better baked treat to have with your trea than some classic homemade delicious scones generously topped with jam and fresh cream? Carry on reading for the recipe!

Ingredients

225g Self raising flour
Pinch of salt
55g Butter
25g Caster sugar
2 teaspoons of Cinnamon
150ml Milk
Dried fruits (raisins)

Heat the oven to 220C/425F and lightly grease a baking sheet.

Mix your flour and salt together and rub in the butter. Add the cinnamon and mix in. Stir in the sugar and then the milk to get a soft dough. Add in the raisins as to your preference.

Spread some flour onto a clean kitchen surface and knead your dough very lightly. Pat your dough out to around 2cm thick. You can then break off little pieces of dough, roll them up and place them on your baking sheet.

Bake them in the oven for 12-15 minutes until they're well risen. You'll know they're ready when they're perfectly golden and crispy on the top! Easy as that!

You can serve them warm or cold, with the jam of your choice, butter or cream and anything else you like! I had some redcurrants on the side and of course, a yummy cup of Earl Grey tea!

If you happen to bake your own, do take a photo and send it to me on Twitter or tag me on Instagram! What are your favourite teatime treats? Let me know down below!

I hope you enjoyed,
xoxo

5 Things I've Learnt From Blogging - Part 1!

Hello gorgeous!

I entered the blogging world a little over 3 years ago to express my thoughts and have somewhat of an online journal where I shared my passion and slowly found a community who has the same interests as I do!

On the journey of blogging, I've learnt quite a lot both blogging and life wise which I never thought I'd learn by typing away on the internet. So, for today's post I thought I'd share 5 things I've picked up from this little corner on the interwebs!

Having a passion for what you do is always important no matter what it is you're doing, whether it's a hobby, an activity or your job. Loving what you do is what keeps you going and giving for as long as you do it. It's what makes you continue in the best way possible and it keeps you happy. Blogging is very theraputic for me, I really love it and that's why I do it. To me, if I'm not enjoying what I'm doing, it's a complete waste of time.

There's a sea-full of blogs out there, with amazing content, gorgeous photography and lovely bloggers behind it all. What makes me unique is being my true self. There's no point of copying another blogger, because if that's how it worked, every blog will be the exact same. And that's how it is in the real world, if you're not your own person, you'll barely make it and if you do, you would have lost yourself in the process.

I absolutely love blogging. I love raving about my obsessions and expressing my thoughts. But sometimes, I lose inspiration and go through a blogger's mind block which is very normal. Personally, I'd much rather post something I'm genuinely pleased with than just another post to hide away the gap between my posts. It's the content that matters more than anything!

When I started blogging, I honestly did not think anyone would care to read my blog let alone come back for the next post. All I cared about was doing something I enjoyed and even getting 10 views was very exciting. That's how it should be. Blog because you love it, not because you want thousands of followers or anything out of it. Because if that's your only aim, blogging is not for you.

As much as I love typing away and putting up new posts, it is very important to take the time offline. The Internet world is fun and you get to interact with so many different people which is great, but you need to remember your life offline. Spend time with friends and family, relax, take a break. Not everything needs to be photographed and blogged about. You lose the joy of the moment by living it through your camera.

And that's just a few of the things I've learnt from blogging! If you enjoyed it and want a part 2, let me know down below! What have you learnt from blogging? Do share!

Until next time,
xoxo

My Top 5 Mascaras!

Hello gorgeous!

Eye makeup for me is what makes my whole look. It can either end up looking fabulous or hideous, depends on what works for me on what day but if it is the latter, it's nothing a good mascara can't fix.

So for today's post, I thought I'd tell you about my top 5 mascaras!

Starting off with the most affordable out of the bunch, the Volum' Express One by One from Maybelline is my absolute favourite drugstore mascara. I get just the right amount of volume and length for day to day, which can build up into an evening's look with a couple of added coats. The bristols on the wand really help to get each lash separately and keeping your eye look clump free, hence the name! I'd definitely recommend it.

Next up is actually the second mascara I've ever owned and it is Lancome's Hypnose Doll Eyes. In all honesty, I'm pretty sure it's the only non-waterproof mascara that does not slip down my eyes at the end of the day which gives it major bonus points from me. It defines your lashes, both short and long as well as your lower lashes perfectly due to the unique shape of its wand and I just love it!

The next 3 mascaras are all by Benefit which isn't surprising, I rave about their mascaras all the time because somehow Benefit just really excels with its formulas! First up is Roller Lash which I think is my favourite Benefit mascara. The wand curls, lifts, lengthens and volumizes my lashes so well, I literally look like I have falsies on! Although, if you don't use it right, your lashes could look very ordinary which is why it doesn't work for some people. Once you figure out how to use it, it is perfect! So if you've tried it and didn't like it, give it another go, you'll love it!

They're Real is another one that I use all the time and really love. It lengthens my lushes more than anything else so I do layer it up with another mascara for the volume but it works perfectly. I especially love it during Summer or when it gets hot outside because it is waterproof and it's honestly so hard to get off which means it will stay put and that is something I can't complain about!

Last but not least, BADgal Lash is very volumising, not so much lengthening which is why I like layering it up with They're Real. Both together give the perfect amount of length and the perfect amount of volume, creating my perfect mascara mixture! I definitely think if Benefit mixed the two formulas together with a new wand, it would be spot on!

And those are my top 5 mascaras! What mascara do you love using?

Lots of love,

OOTD: My Pink Duster Coat!

Hello lovely!

The day has finally come where I got to wear my long awaited for pink duster jacket which I bought at the start of Summer from Miss Selfridge

It's a gorgeous long yet light and comfy, pale pink duster coat that comes with a belt for you to tie around your waist and I am obsessed with it.

I paired it with a white chiffon top from Forever 21, my navy blue trousers from Zara and my pinkish nude heels from Clarks

Although the wind decided to give my hair a crazy new hairstyle, I thought I'd still share the photos and hope you enjoy anyway!

Also, I just put up a new page on the blog where I'm sharing my wishlists from makeup, skincare to bags and shoes all which I'll be updating whenever something new catches my eye. You can check it out here :)

Lots of love,
xoxo

Meet 'Twenty Once'!

Teen Diary is a blog I created in the Summer of 2012, as my own little corner of the internet where I shared my thoughts, passions, creativity and ambitions without a thought in mind that anyone would care to read a word of it. To me, it was my online journal and for the past 3 and a half years, that's exactly what it has been.

Slowly, I saw the numbers go up. I gained readers and followers and it was my little community. People loved what I loved and they waited for me to talk about it. Teen Diary was then recognised by companies and was considered an influencer which was very rewarding.

I've learnt so much by just expressing my thoughts on a little webpage linked on the internet. I've learnt that I want to become a journalist and continue expressing my thoughts, both on paper and online. I've learnt how to be confident. I've learnt that I can be different but special in my own way. I've learnt how to take better photographs. I've learnt what I'm passionate about, how creative I can be and where I can take my ambitions. I've learnt to say what I think and not hesitate. I've learnt that if I have a say, even on the tiniest part of the internet, I should voice it. But most importantly, I've learnt to always be myself and to accept 'me' as I am.

I started the blog when I was about to turn 17 and at the time 'Teen Diary' was perfect. I still love it and it will always be my brand but unfortunately, I'm no longer a teen anymore and as I grow up, my blog grows with me. Twenty Once was a name I had in mind since the day I turned 20 and it has finally become the new name of Teen Diary.

With the new name, comes a new ending signature to my blog. Little did I know on my last post, that 'xoxo Teen Diary' was my very last and to be honest, I will need time to get used to that, which will require loads of backspaces and deletes.

The little teen has become a young lady and it is very exciting. Meet Twenty Once, I hope you like it!

& for the very first time,
xoxo

My Lazy Day Routine!

Hello gorgeous!

I watched a video not too long ago of someone doing their lazy day routine in Q&A form, which I thought was fun and different and knew right away that I wanted to do the same on my blog. As it's Winter, lazy days tend to slip into my weeks quite often which makes this very appropriate!

1. What is your lazy day skincare routine?

I would probably say, it isn't any different than my daily skincare routine. I always like to cleanse my face and moisturise which is what I do everyday, lazy or not!

2. What is your lazy day makeup?

A lazy day for me would consist of no makeup at all. As much as I love playing around with makeup and creating new looks, I really look forward to taking it all off and enjoying a completely clean face. It just gives my skin a chance to breathe and I love it.

3. What is your lazy day hairstyle?

I do wash my hair everyday, so I would have to blow dry it, maybe curl it and throw it into a ponytail just to save time the next morning. Although, if I'm feeling a little lazier, I'll just blow dry it and throw it in a bun!

4. What is your lazy day outfit?

Pyjamas! Now that it's Winter, I love getting cosy in long warm pyjamas and fuzzy socks. That, along with a warm cup of tea is just perfect.

5. What is your lazy day scent?

My lazy day scent is anything that smells good to be honest. For my body, I've been loving the Early-Harvest Raspberry body scrub from The Body Shop which smells amazing. I also find Rose Jam from Lush really relaxing. As for Perfume, I really love Chanel No5. It's one of my all time favourite scents!

6. What is your lazy day pampering product?

My lazy day pampering product is either a face mask or a Lush bubble bar which is just another excuse for a hot bath!

7. What is your lazy day snack?

I have been obsessed with Pomelos. Pretty sure they're my favourite Winter fruit! I also really enjoy chestnuts and almonds. Yum!

8. What is your lazy day drink?

Definitely as many cups of Earl Grey tea as possible or a yummy cup of hot chocolate!

And that's all the questions! How's your lazy day like? Let me know down below and if you decide to do this on your blog, do send me a link on Twitter right over here, I'd love to give it a read!

Come back tomorrow for a new post and if so, I'll see you then!

Lots of love,

My Winter Essentials!

Hello lovely!

I am one that loves Summer. No matter how hot it gets, how sunny it is, I just love it. But I must admit, the cosiness of Winter is something that I do look forward to. Something about it just gets me feeling fuzzy inside.

For today's post, I thought I'd give you my guide on how to survive Winter, also known as, my Winter Essentials!

1. Warm drinks and lots of them!

One of my favourite things about Winter are the endless choices of hot drinks. Don't get me wrong, I do love myself a delicious warm drink all year round, but there's something about them in Winter that's just perfect.

My favourite tea of all time is Marks & Spencer's Earl Grey which smells amazing and tastes delicious. This is my 3rd box in around 2 months? And these come with 50 teabags so you can imagine how much I love it. Another one from M&S is their Drinking Chocolate hot chocolate powder. All you need is hot milk and as many teaspoons of powder as you like for a perfectly yummy hot chocolate. You may even add whipped cream, marshmallows and chocolate flakes if you're feeling fancy!

2. A good book, or 5.

Something about Winter makes me really want to grab a book and read it. I don't know if it's the lovely feeling of getting nice and cosy in warm clothing and a cup of tea to sip on and keep warm, but I just really love reading a lot more throughout the colder months. This one is By The Time You Read This by Lola Jaye which is my all time favourite book!

4. Cosy, fuzzy clothing.

I get cold like no one else. I can be in a million layers and still freeze my face off. So, big fat warm layers are a necessity for me. Fuzzy socks, huge blanket scarves and beanies are essential. And how cute are those polar bear fuzzy socks?!

5. Candles!

Okay I'll be honest, I might not actually burn the candles that I have as much as I just love having them around and the reason being, 1. They happen to smell even better unlit. 2. They still make a room smell good with the cover off. 3. The smell of the smoke that is left after you blow the candle out, gets rid of all the good scents you've lit the candle for. 4. Sometimes when a candle is lit, it can be too strong and sickly. So in conclusion, a candle is just a lot better unlit. But I love the warm scents they add to a room!

6. Moisturisers, moisturisers and more moisturisers.

When the weather shifts from heat to cold, it's normal to get really dry skin. But with me, I have yet to find something to really help with the dryness on my face. Nonetheless, I still moisturise even if it's just going to help for a day. And for that, I've been using the Simple Derma Intensive Relief Cream which is meant to show results in 7 days, it has not done that btw. As well as the Simple Kind To Skin Hydrating Moisturiser which does a little something in order for me to apply makeup without looking like I have dry skin.

As for my hands, I have fallen in love with Jergens' Daily Moisture. It has completely gotten rid of  the dryness on my hands and it just works wonders as far as hand creams go.

And those are the main things that help me survive the cold weather and perhaps, enjoy it a little bit! If you know of a good facial moisturiser that you could suggest in the comments down below, I'd be grateful!

I hope you guys enjoyed,
xoxo

OOTD: My Topshop Jacket Is Back Again!

Hello gorgeous!

As soon as the cold came around, all of my coats, jackets, scarves, boots, jumpers and fuzzy socks came out for their moment to shine.

It is that layering time of year which I absolutely love and along with that, I just learnt how to properly use the timer on my camera (yay!). So, you can imagine the amount of outfit posts you'll be getting soon, if you guys seem to like those that is.

For today's outfit, I'll be honest, I wasn't completely ready for how cold it actually was but I still think it looked cute so I thought I'd share. Nothing a scarf and a thick jumper underneath wouldn't fix!

Just a sneaky peak at my phone while posing to the camera

You've seen this Topshop jacket before (right over here), which was styled completely different so it is very versatile which I love. My trousers are from Zara, blue top from Forever21 and boots from Topshop!

If you didn't already know, I'll be posting everyday until the end of December so be sure to come back tomorrow for a brand new post!

Lots of love,

My Updated Hair Care Routine!

Hello gorgeous!

It has been quite a long time since I posted my haircare routine, 2 years and 5 months to be exact. But it is the 2nd most read post on the blog so I thought it's about time I do an updated one!

I got a haircut at the end of summer which was supposed to be just a little 'trim' but we all know hairdresser's inches are like triple the length of real life inches, so my trim turned into a shoulder length haircut and well, I wasn't happy. All I wanted was to grow it out ASAP. And here's how I've been trying to maintain it:

Serums and Oils

I have definitely raved about Macadamia so many times on the blog and their Healing Oil Treatment is no exception. My hair tends to get quite dry at the ends due to using heat products and to help with that, I've been applying one pump of the oil to around the middle of my hair downwards. I just rub it into the palm of my hands and brush it through my hair because it is a thick oil and if you apply it directly, you will be able to notice once your hair is dry. I do sometimes apply a quarter of a pump to my dry hair after it's been curled, just to add that healthy shine as well as work it's treatment. Lovely product!

Heat Protecting Sprays

I had the Tresemme Heat Defence in my last hair care routine and it's still a very well loved product. I do use a lot of heat on my hair, I'll be honest and this saves it a ton of damage, I must say.

Another one I love is the Berina Hair Heat Protector which I bought from a hairdresser I used to go to after seeing the woman use it on me, then started seeing it in some pharmacies which is always great. I do love it for times when I want extra volume whilst protecting my hair from the heat and as you can see, I do use it a lot! I think this is my second purchase in well around 2 years which is obviously amazing.

Styling Tools

For styling my hair, I'm still very committed to the Jose Eber tools. I love their straighteners and since my last post, I also invested in a curling iron which I have been loving! I do find curling my hair with the curling wand very kind and gentle on my hair if that is true at all. But, it definitely is a lot less drying and I'm not complaining!

Brushes and Combs!

For brushing my hair, I have a brush and a comb. Typically when you're out of the shower, you'll use your comb first to detangle your hair whilst still being gentle on your scalp and brush later on. I did get the Macadamia Healing Oil Infused Comb with purchase and it is meant to work along with the oil, distribute it equally and leave a well wanted shine. To be honest, I don't know if it does what is meant to do and I sometimes forget the comb or can't be bothered with it but we can't all be perfect. I also have this very cute pink brush, which is your ordinary brush quite frankly!

Other than that, I wash my hair everyday and I do try to change up the shampoo I'm using because I've found, if I use the same shampoo every single day, my hair tends to get used to it and it just won't work with it as a shampoo anymore if that makes sense. Meaning, the shampoo won't clean my hair as it should. Along with that, I sometimes use Macadamia's Deep Repair Masque when my hair is really dry but it is very rare for me to do so which is why I didn't include it in the routine!

But that is all I use to at least try and keep my hair healthy and growing. Do you have any products you love and would recommend? Let me know down below!

I hope you enjoyed,
xoxo
