Blogging 101: Starting A Blog!

Hello gorgeous!

Blogging has been a guilty pleasure of mine for a little over 3 years now, I may not blog everyday or even every other day, but I do try to bring new content every now and then. Being in the blogging world for a good period of time, I'd like to think I know my ways around this little corner of the internet. So, I thought I'd share my tips and tricks in a series beginning with starting a blog!

1. Decide what category your blog would fit into

Whether you're into beauty, fashion, travel, photography, food or even a bit of tech and gadgets, there's a place for you in the blogging world. You don't have to be a beauty blogger, you don't have to change up your closet, just do what you love and enjoy what you do. If you follow my blog, you'd notice I have a little bit of everything. I talk about beauty products a lot, I have a little bit of heart to hearts and a handful of fashion posts, To me, my blog is the place where I talk about everything I'm loving and that's how I like it to be. If you'd like your blog to be all about beauty tutorials or concentrate on your daily outfits or even be full of photos and nothing else, that's completely fine. It's your little space, make whatever you like out of it!

2. Planning is key!

Planning was never my thing until recently, I've gotten a lot busier than when I first started my blog and organising my time to stay up to date with the blog has been a struggle but that's until I caved into planning. I did have a bunch of cute stationary lying around my desk which I did buy for blogging purposes and I finally started using them. Writing down what you want to post, how you'd like to write them up, deciding your theme and setting a little timeline of when you're going to take the photos, write the post and actually put it up is a great way to blog without fail. I definitely have been blogging a lot more since I started planning!

3. Only invest in a DSLR when the time is right.

I know more than a handful of people who have wanted to try blogging for so long and when they actually start to do so, they just don't enjoy it as much or they quit after a good amount of posts. So I'd definitely advise you to try blogging first. Know if it's for you, if it goes well and you know this is what you want to do, then you can invest in upgrading your blog. A DSLR definitely makes a difference but to be honest, even your phone will do in the beginning. I didn't invest in a camera until over a year of blogging and at the time, my phone did actually please me and I'm sure with all the upgrades and improvements on the phone camera quality, you'll be just fine with just that until you know what you want to do.

4. Find your audience without spamming other bloggers.

There are countless blogs and bloggers out there, so finding your audience can take a lot of time and effort. Joining social networks and being as active as you possibly can will help a lot. But being active doesn't mean you can go around other bloggers feeds and comment 'Follow my blog, I follow back' or 'Check out my blog!' because that can be a bit annoying and very disrespectful to the other blogger. Personally, when someone comments on my blog, I know straight away whether they actually read my post or are just commenting to get clicks. If you like reading blogs, comment what you really thought, or what really interested you in the post. Don't just comment for the sake of a click, it doesn't make you very likable.

5. Be yourself!

I love reading other blogs and finding inspiration from various platforms such as Pinterest, weheartit, etc. But just because I'm into a certain blog or really enjoy a certain blogger's photography does not mean I have to become like that blogger. I have my own ways of writing and my own ways of photography and my own little theme and there's nothing wrong with that. Just because most bloggers are loving marble and copper (which are amazing), doesn't mean I have to as well. Just because bloggers are into a certain product, doesn't mean I have to be into it too. Some things work for some people and don't work for others, it's totally normal.

Do what you love and what you enjoy and always remember to just be yourself. Don't copy anyone because eventually, you'll end up losing the passion you had to begin with.

And those are my 5 top tips if you're interested in starting a blog, I hope they help! If you are a blogger already, what are you tips? Leave them in the comments below!

Until next time,
xoxo

ScentBird: A New Scent Each Month!

Hello gorgeous!

Monthly subscriptions have been a popular addition to many shopping lists and purchases and I can definitely understand why. As one that has never subscribed to a box of any kind, I always have my moment and sigh looking at the amazing goodies that were up for grabs.

One thing the subscription box community definitely needed are perfumes and for my very first subscription box, I got just that from Scentbird.com and I am completely hooked.

The scent I decided to go for is Bright Crystal from Versace. It comes with a black case the first month which you will have to use for the rest of your subscription if you'd like to keep your little bottle safe. Along with that, you get a little velvet dust bag and I think it's so cute.

There's a wide variety of over 350 scents for only $14.95 a month and I think it's a great way to try out different scents, change up your usual perfume and decide what you really like enough to purchase in it's actual size.

For me, I rarely ever finish a bottle of perfume and I never really want to try out different scents seeing as they're expensive and I wouldn't want to spend too much money on something I would only use once or twice. I've heard about the Vercase Bright Crystal and this was the way to give it a go. For only $14.95, I definitely think it's a bargain being $94 in actual size and $24 in rollerball form, I'm saving either way!

If you'd like to subscribe you may check out their website at scentbird.com! If so, let me know down below what scents you'd like to try!

Until next time,

My Daily Makeup Essentials!

Hello gorgeous!

For some reason, I am always one to rush when getting ready. Whether I'm up an hour or 3 before having to head somewhere, rushing is just a part of the routine. To try and sort that out and perhaps spare a few minutes, I have put my most reached for products in a little acrylic organiser which contains all the makeup I need on a daily basis and more. And I thought I'd show you!

Starting off with what's on top of the organiser, I have my all time favourite foundation which I reach for pretty much everyday and it is the Studio Fix Fluid foundation from Mac, it lasts long, is my exact shade and gives amazing coverage. Next to that I have a pen holder which I use for my makeup brushes and these are actually all the makeup brushes I own, it's barely anything compared to most bloggers and makeup addicts but it works for me and I'm pretty pleased with what I can do from just these! I've got a couple of Urban Decay brushes, a few Lancome ones as well as some Adore ones!

I do like dividing the drawers I have based on their categories, so my 'lippies' drawer contains two lipsticks, the Bobbi Brown lipstick in Sandwash Pink no. 22 which I have raved about for over a year now on the blog as well as the Maybelline Colour Sensational in Intense Pink no. 140. I also have my favourite lip gloss, the Urban Decay Naked Lip gloss in the shade Rule34. All are pretty neutral and nude which I actually like, I might change it up for the sake of Autumn, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough for bald shades just yet!

In my 'base' drawer I have my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation for days where I want glowy skin and light coverage. For my dark circles, I have my Mac Mineralise concealer which I absolutely love and is actually running out so I do need a repurchase soon. I also have the Bassam Fattouh correcting concealer which was recommended to me by a makeup artist and the INGLOT creamy concealer, both I only have here to finish up quite honestly since they haven't done the trick and I'm hardly a fan.

My 'miscellaneous' drawer contains eye products and face products which didn't fit into their drawers so I have the Naked 2 Basics palette by Urban Decay which is the perfect matte palette for neutral eye looks, the Clinique double face powder which I use to mattify my face. For blush, I have the Sabaya blush in 03, it has been a favourite for years, it goes with every makeup look whether I'm tan or pale and it is just an essential. For primers, I have the Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion for my face as well as the Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden for my eyelids, I've spoken about the two before and I do try to make time for them everyday as I do expect my makeup to last reasonably long because I never manage to retouch!

Last but not least, my 'eyes' drawer contains the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for days when I want a shimmery look because they do last much longer and for day to day, I'll pop one shade on and I'm good to go, it really saves a lot of time! For mascara, I have the Roller Lash by Benefit which is just perfect for length and volume on its own, but if I have enough time to layer up, I do have the BADgal lash which just enhances the look even more. Another Benefit product is the They're Real Push-Up liner, I never thought I'd love gel liners until I tried this one and I'm just amazed by how easy it is to apply, the lasting power and the fact that it is always smudge-free, perfect! Lastly, I have my La Tweez tweezers which I just keep in case I need a little eyebrow fix.

That is all of my daily makeup essentials! What are you must-have makeup products on a day to day basis, especially when it comes the cooler months? Let me know down below!

Lots of love,
xoxo

My First Ever Lush Haul!

Hello gorgeous!

Lush has been the Chanel of baths and showers, from their insanely awesome bath bombs and bubble bars, to their amazing on the skin moisturisers, scrubs and everything else. Although Lush products have been on every YouTube channel and every blog, I never came around to purchasing their products, well until now. I know, where on Earth have I been?

I'm not too much of an expert when it comes to their products, so I basically went by scents and the look of things as to what I've read on their website and have come with 2 bubble bars as well as 2 samples.

The first thing I got is the popular Comforter bubble bar which you can break up to use in multiple baths. With cassis absolute (black currant) and bergamot oil it is meant to leave your bath smelling amazing as well as give you the relaxation you need, hence the name. It lingers on your skin and gives the perfect pink bath!

The next thing I got which was actually my first pick is the French Kiss bubble bar mainly because it is a lavender based product. I am a huge fan of anything lavender, the scent to me is so soothing and is basically ideal for a relaxing bath or a pampering evening. This did not disappoint!

Not knowing what I wanted and what was a product I am definitely going to love, I did kindly get 2 samples. The first one is their Dark Angels cleanser which just might be one of my all time favourite products and I will be doing a review next week with demos and what I love about it so come back in a week for that!

Last but not least, I got the I Love Juicy shampoo sample which may I just say smells incredible. With papaya, kiwi and pineapple juice, it smells like nothing I've smelt before. The scent stayed on my hair until the next wash (which was less than 24 hours, but still) and I am completely pleased.

I am totally obsessed and I can't wait for my next purchase. I know the Halloween and Christmas collections are out now so if you like anything or would like to recommend anything, do let me know in the comments down below, I'd highly appreciate it!

Until next time,
xoxo

My Little Work Space!

Hello lovely!

Ever since I was a kid, I've been completely obsessed with decorating and finding new ways to spice up an area. And well, the space I had most freedom changing up whenever I wanted to was definitely my work space. I've changed it up week after week, from adding photo frames to showcasing my favourite reads or even by simply moving my computer from one side to the other. It's always been such an enjoyment and I've loved it.

My desk does take quite a large space in my bedroom but it was either a tiny desk to fit a vanity or skip the dressing table and have a large desk to work with. I suppose you could guess what I decided to do?

Finalizing this little space to have it exactly how I want has taken quite some time but I've finally come to a setting that I'm pleased with. I have a plain desk with no drawers because most of the fancy looking desks that I liked were out of my budget and were probably half the size so I thought I could easily work with something like this and I really enjoy having a big area. The first thing I did after placing my computer, was print loads of photos off of pinterest (all which you can find on my pinterest boards) and frame them. The frames I found are super light which meant I didn't need to nail them on the wall, they were also very affordable and I just love how they make my little space look! As for the desk, I knew I had to use it for multiple things, so I did divide it into two parts, the right side is my work space and the left side is my little 'vanity' which isn't a problem!

The studio light I have had for quite a while but I've seen them in a handful of home shops and some are actually not too expensive! To spice it up I hung a Sephora bag as well as a Makeup Forever bag and I think it adds a little something since well, I am a shopaholic.  Right next to that I have my pin board where I pin photos I'm enjoying and inspirational notes and I just love looking at it to be honest!

One of my favourite bits on my desk is probably the white heart letter rack which was kindly sent to me by BuySend.com. I was actually looking for something to hold all my stationary as well as my desk essentials and although this is meant for holding your mail, I thought it went perfect on my desk! They do have it in two different styles and colours, a white like the one I chose, as well as a wooden one with a shabby chic finish to it which you can see here

As for the left side of my desk, I just have a floral vintage looking box where I keep my daily makeup essentials as well as a moisturiser and a pen holder which I use to hold my mascaras, primers and concealers! P.S the Simple Intensive Relief cream is amazing for anyone that has super dry skin during the cooler months!

And that is all for my desk organisation, I hope you guys enjoyed! Do let me know how you organise your desk or leave a link below to your #deskgoals! Be sure to check out buysend.com :)

Until next time,
xoxo
